Not far from where I live there are fields where people keep their horses. They are mostly racing horses but you'll see one or two shire stallions. There they are, happily grazing on a juicy green grass of the South Downs rarely paying attention to passing cars and people. These two were different, curious, alert, special. When I first approached them with my camera they stopped but didn't run away, came closer instead. My lens got sniffed and touched by a tongue , that was it. They wanted a scratch and a stroke, so we started to get to know each other.
I believe animals sense the intentions you have, know if you're going to be kind to them. They were happy to pose for a portrait, and let me take as many shots as I wanted. The gentle breeze played with the main and evening sun tinted it gold. That look in the eyes!
I had most amazing time with them and will go back again with or perhaps without camera for a chat and a scratch.
I wish I knew their names.
